Day Master (Ri Zhu)

The Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of the Day Pillar in Bazi. It is the reference used to label other stems and hidden stems with Ten-God relationships, distinct from the year-animal zodiac sign.

For a Jia Day Master, Xin Metal is Direct Officer because Metal controls Wood with opposite polarity. For a Bing Fire Day Master, Xin is Direct Wealth because Fire controls Metal with opposite polarity. The same Xin therefore has different roles when the reference changes.

San Ming Tong Hui gives such day-stem-relative examples. The ten stem labels are a traditional symbolic reference system; they do not establish a fixed personality, physical strength or moral worth.

A Day Master reading usually combines identity, strength, and relationship roles.

• Season: the birth month shows whether the element is in season.

2. Read the top character of the Day Pillar as the Day Master.
3. Identify its element and Yin/Yang polarity.
4. Check season, roots, nearby stems, and hidden stems.
5. Use that context before interpreting Ten Gods or favorable elements.

Common mistakes come from reading the Day Master as a standalone personality label.
